So a guest on Oprah says that even the youngest babies have language. I had to see it for myself.

The Gummy Bear Wiggle
Early last week C had a bit more spotting and this was, of course, cause for concern. In speaking with Julie, our midwife, she suggested another ultrasound to ensure things are still progressing normally.
Fast forward to Friday - C is scheduled for the ultrasound at 1pm. She left work around noon and just as she's approaching the downtown core, gets stuck in a huge traffic jam with no exit in sight. Add to this the fact that she drank over a litre of water before leaving the office - this, my friend, is not good - not good at all. C calls S and lets her know she's running behind, and oh - she has to pee and isn't sure how she's going to make it. S then hurries off to the clinic to let them know that C's going to be late and all seems fine there - the waiting room is empty. C finally arrives at 1:20pm - 20 min late - not bad, right? Poor C can barely walk she has to pee so badly, pleads with the administrator for the key to the bathroom, she says no. C protests, at this point we know it's a serious emergency - C never complains about stuff like that.
So the administrator wanders off and has a good 5 min chat with the technician about C's state of affairs. Five minutes, when you have to pee THAT bad is an ETERNITY! The technician follows the administrator out to the waiting room and says to another woman who recently arrived, that she'd be seen then..and that C would have to wait because she was late. Poor C - at this point she pleads with the technician to go to the washroom and is permitted to go just a little bit.
Lesson? NEVER be late for an ultrasound appointment...and if you are, pray you have a humane technician. That was a crazy experience :)
On a not-so side note, we saw bebe again, and it was doing a little wiggle that only C can imitate with decent reliability :) S thought she saw a little arm wave in there, and the heartrate was up at 168bpm which is apparently in the normal range for its age. Bebe measured in at between 8w6d and 9w1d. And things look good. The spotting C has been having may be due to a small fibroid on her uterus that was uncovered at this ultrasound. Because it's so small it's not likely to cause complications, we're told. We'll see.
For today, everything is as good as we could expect.

There's the baby!
Today C went in for an early ultrasound. According to the doctor, she is about 7 weeks 6 days pregnant. The baby measured 8 weeks 2 days though and is 1.53cm long with a heart rate of 171bpm. Those are all good things and the risk of losing this pregnancy is down once again to < 5%. After having been in that 5% before, it's hard not to see yourself going there again, but we take one day at a time. So far, things are looking good.
C's lying here snoozing away as I write this. She's been a lot more tired with this pregnancy and has had more symptoms overall, I think. Yesterday we saw our midwife for the first time this pregnancy. We were lucky enough to get the same midwife as last time - we're all about the familiar, you see.
So we continue to go day by day - finding the little joys as we go along - and try to enjoy this pregnancy as much as possible. We haven't told anyone yet and plan to keep it that way until the Christmas holidays. We'll be around the 11 week mark by then.
We were home in mid-November and S had some questions from C's stepmother about when we were going to start trying again. S has a feeling she already knows C's pregnant, but neither of us spilled the beans. She'll be so surprised :)
