In to see Dr. Donna

Yesterday we had our first appointment to confirm the pregnancy. It was a good appointment - we think that we took our physician by surprise as we had already been in to one fertility clinic and didn't care much for -that- experience, and were placed on a waiting list for another. Who knew that a month later we'd be sitting in her office with this news. It's tough to not be overly excited about being pregnant - especially when 15% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage before 12 weeks. We're trying not to think too much about that though - and focus on enjoying the moments we have and do as much as possible to foster good development of our baby. If there's a miscarriage - as tough as that would be... there's probably a darned good reason.

The next appointment will be on July 17th. We'll know better then how things are progressing. So far C is feeling not too bad. No morning sickness or anything - which is nice. It could kick in at any time though. We're going to visit C's family this weekend - which will be interesting. We're not ready to tell anyone yet, but C's Dad loves to get a nice cold beer ready for our arrival, and pick out a few bottles of wine to enjoy with dinners over the weekend. For now, we'll tell them we're trying to get pregnant...wonder if we can actually keep it under wraps though. C's Dad is a physician and step-mother is a nurse...not sure what we'll do if they ask us point-blank.
